Singer-songwriter, entrepreneur and Psychology graduate, Michelle spent her final year studying on exchange in Australia. While she was there, she became involved with the Miss Africa Perth pageant (as a performer) and was inspired to emulate their hard work and ideals upon her return to the UK.

Before leaving Zimbabwe, Michelle trained with Harare’s leading Modelling and Grooming school – Medusa Promotions, and in addition to modelling at several fashion shows appearing in press and adverts, she had competed in the Miss Zimbabwe Pageant (1995) where she placed in the top 5, as well as the Miss Universe (Zimbabwe) Pageant (1996). Her fellowship with other contestants during the Miss Zimbabwe Pageant earned her the Miss Personality award.

Michelle still uses the poise and confidence gained during her modelling training in all her photographic sessions and public appearances as singer Sahara C (stage name). Lessons learned from taking part, are those that Michelle has carried with her through all her travels and life experiences, and she describes her participation in the pageants as one of the most memorable and positive experiences she has had.

For Michelle, this pageant is the chance to provide a platform for the success of other women of African heritage.
